Prominent at the time was the use of sampled individual notes from a live instrument such as the guitar which were then transferred, via the sampler, to the keyboards. No-one had really thought of sampling large sections of live performance and with no use of drum loops, rhythmic variation had to be achieved in different ways. A good example can be seen in the chugging guitar part that is generated by hitting a spring and part of the bass sound produced by hitting the end of a hoover tube with the hand.
